Sometimes life has sudden twists and turns and such was the case with Escalade.  At 3 years he scored 408” and was a mirror image of his dad Levi.  Hopes were high that he would continue to exceed expectations, but at 4 years he was growing a drop tine off his beam which he broke during growing time and bed out that beam which stunted his growth.  That fall I “spooked” him causing him to jump into a gate, tearing his bottom lip off and loosing some teeth.  The vet felt that the lip would heal – it did to probably 80” – but when he would eat and chew he would always be loosing a percentage of his food.

He seemed to recover somewhat but then at 5 years of age he lost an eye due to fighting with other bulls.  That was the deciding factor in moving him to the hunt ranch at 6 years.  We were extremely thrilled when he scored 508” typical – giving him the #2 World Record.   Escalade is a full brother to Avenger.
