5 STRAWS SEMEN COMMANDER

For those of us who need a shot of “Double Double” to get us going in the morning, we now have the option of a “Triple Triple” to bring our breeding program up to speed!!  COMMANDER IS THE TRIPLE PURPOSE BULL – Velvet, Meat and Trophy!  Here is a bull with pedigree and production.  He is a Python son out of a Quick Silver dam.  Our best bulls including Levi, Laramie, Chief and Commander all come out of Quick Silver dams.   Velvet - 20.44 lbs @ 2 yrs, 33.89lbs @ 3 yrs, 47.52 lbs @ 4 yrs.  We estimated that he would have cut 55 lbs @ 5 yrs if we had cut him in 2013, and an estimated 70 lbs in 2014 @ 6 yrs.  Now in 2015 we are estimating him to cut 85 lbs of velvet!!!    Meat – Commander weighed 1000 lbs pre-rut as a 2 year old – 20-25 % heavier than his age-mates on the same feed!  He is a HUGE bull with an exceptionally calm disposition.  I guess when you are that big there aren’t too many “comers” that you have to worry about.  His August 2014 weight was 1368 lbs!    Trophy -- Commander as always had the long beam which we recognized when we cut his velvet off, so we suspected that this would increase his trophy score.  Hidden in his pedigree is the tyne length from White Lightning – Quick Silver is from a White Lightning dam (AOLD 196) and Commander’s maternal grand dam (ACAM 117) is actually a half-sister to White Lightning – both sired by Northern Star.  He scored 497” at 5 yrs, placing second at Alberta Elk Expo.  We are estimating his 6 yr old set to score 520+”.  Looking at the many nubs on his 7 yr old velvet we think that he could easily be a mid to high 500’s” bull!    What a fantastic combination of Velvet, Meat and Trophy!
